Employee Spotlight: Nick Vaill, Customer Development Specialist

Q: How long have you been with Membersy? How has the company changed since you’ve been here? 

A:  I have been here almost a year!!! The company has added some great people since I've been here and I moved from sales to customer success. We have been doing a lot of team-building activities, as well, like a Luna Park virtual event which was SO FUN!

Q: What does your typical day look like? 

A:  I have a bunch of different projects I work on. Typically, I am calling our current customers to set up training sessions on how to boost enrollment numbers for whatever plan they have. Also, help with contact cleanup in salesforce and sending emails to our current customers to help them boost enrollment numbers. 

Q: How does your role impact customers on a daily basis? 

A: I am helping our customers learn the importance of an in-house plan and helping them offer one to their patients. We are impacting their bottom line everyday because the plans we create are a huge revenue driver for these practices.

Q: What is your favorite part about working for Membersy? 

A:  The people and the collaboration, even working remotely I feel so connected with the team; everyone is so transparent and helpful.  

Q: What drew you to Membersy originally? 

A: The service we sell. We have a great niche and it is only growing. I love showing offices the the value of our product, and how we are expanding access to care for the uninsured population with our options! Also, what drew me here is Tracy Swanson, he really painted a great picture of how Membersy would be and helped me every step of the way, he is the GOAT. 

Q: In a fast-paced and ever-evolving industry, how do you stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices to better serve our customers?

A: I read Group Dentistry Now and Becker's Dental Review. Also, Bill Neumann is great on LinkedIn - I listen to his podcasts sometimes as our industry is ever changing!

Q: What is a fact that would surprise your coworkers?

A: I played ice hockey in high school and scored 7 goals in my career. 

Q: Collaboration is often key in a customer-facing role. How do you work with other teams within the company to ensure a seamless customer experience?

A: I am constantly requesting feedback on calls I had and emails I sent.  We also have a special channel on Slack to share calls, notes, feedback, anything really.

Q: Building and maintaining relationships with customers is crucial. What strategies or tactics do you use to foster long-lasting customer relationships?

A:  Treating them like an actual HUMAN, using understandable language, and just reasoning with them. Also, always being available to them and answering any questions customers may have very quickly.

Q: What’s the most interesting or unique hobby you’ve had outside of work? 

A: I am a huge skier and regularly do double black diamonds and jumps. 

Q: What would your autobiography be called? 

A:  Vaill: The Legend

Q: What is something that’s on your bucket list? 

A:  I want to try heli-sking (skiing out of a helicopter) 

Q: If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? 

A:  To play guitar

Q: If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet? Alternatively, if you could host a dinner party and invite anyone, living or dead, who would you invite? 

A: I would want to meet Babe Ruth. 

Q: What would you most like to tell your younger self? 

A:  Stop comparing yourself to people 

Q: If you could live in any time period, what would it be and why? 

A: The 80s for sure. I grew up in the wrong era. No phones, no social media, it was a great time. 

Q: Are you a morning person or a night owl, and how do you start or end your day?

A:  Morning person for sure, and I always start by doing a nice run or bike ride and some coffee and scrambled eggs.

Q: Who were your top artists on Spotify this year? 

A:  J Cole, Kid Cudi

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

A: Super speed so I don't have to travel lol 

Q: If you were stranded on a deserted island, which three items would you want to have with you?

A: 1. Lighter, 2. Knife, 3. Sat phone

Q: Describe your ideal weekend – what would you do, and who would you spend it with?

A:  Ski vacation in the Swiss Alps, go in on a helicopter, ski all day, and have a 5 star dinner at the bottom of the mountain. I would go with all my friends.

Q: What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?

A: Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard. 

Q: If you could instantly master one skill, what would it be and why?

A: I would master golf and beat Tracy Swanson after his hole in one. 

Q: Are you a collector of anything, and if so, what do you collect?

A:  I collect old vintage hats. 

Q: If you had to choose a theme song for your life, what would it be, and why?

A:  Don't Stop Believing by Journey, never give up and keep pushing!
